Make Time for Fun: Embracing Hobbies, Challenges, and New Beginnings
How are you?
Truly, take a moment and ask yourself that question. In the rush of daily life, we often forget to check in with ourselves. It’s easy to get caught up in constant motion. Give yourself some grace and consider adding a bit of margin to your daily schedule—leave room for the unexpected!
And with that, here are the 3 C’s for this week!
1. Clay: Rediscovering the Joy of Hobbies
When was the last time you had fun just for fun? When you actually scheduled time to learn a new hobby or enjoy an old one?
Maybe your to-do list feels endless, and a hobby seems like a luxury you can’t afford. Or perhaps you avoid new activities because you hate being a beginner. As a driven person, it’s always been hard for me to make time for hobbies. I’m either thinking about my never-ending to-do list or convincing myself that productivity should come first—whether it’s growing my business or improving my skills.
But making time for hobbies, spending time with friends, or allowing yourself some space to do nothing is incredibly valuable—especially when life feels overwhelming. Doing something just for pleasure triggers your brain’s reward system. You enjoy yourself, feel-good chemicals are released, and there’s your reward!
To truly reap the benefits, commit to hobbies by scheduling them. Carve out dedicated time, and treat it as sacred—just like an important meeting or family event. We’re much more likely to follow through when it’s a set part of our routine.
So, guess what I did?
I signed up for an 8-week pottery class at City Clay. The idea of creating something from scratch is both intimidating and exciting! I know I’ll be frustrated with being a beginner, but I’m committed to enjoying the process.
What’s your favorite hobby? I bet you do something really interesting in your free time. Let me know in the comments!
2. Challenges: Finding Strength in the Struggle
Are you in a tough season of life? Maybe you’re feeling tired and frustrated, longing for a different reality—whether it’s a more fulfilling job, reaching a financial goal, or simply finding more time for yourself. Whatever it is, your feelings are valid.
It’s okay to feel frustrated right now. But be mindful not to let discontentment settle in. Let your frustration breathe, but don’t let it lead. Acknowledge how you feel, learn from it, and start small by focusing on what’s right in front of you.
Here are a few small actions you can take today to alleviate stress:
Turn off notifications on your phone.
Step outside for a breath of fresh air.
Tackle one household task.
Write a little, even if it’s just a few lines.
Call a friend.
This challenging season is an opportunity to reconnect with what matters and strengthen who you already are. Remember, how things are now isn’t how they’ll always be—seasons change, and so do you.
